Parent Council
The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act 2006 requires the education authority to support the establishment of a parent council for every primary, secondary and special school.
The act aims to help all parents to be:
Involved in their child’s education and learning;
Welcomed as active participants in the life of the school; and
Encouraged to express their views on school education generally and work in partnership with the school.
At Saltersgate, our parent council is formed from our parent forum - all parents/carers with parental responsibility who have a child currently in Saltersgate.
We have a very supportive parent council, who always welcome and actively encourage new members to join. They assist in fundraising, activities and are involved in our school’s decision making processes and improvement work.
